Well, who says cafeteria has to be well decorated, and each plate of food is highly charged with service taxes? The environment can be as simple with only roof coverings, while the food is as authentic as is it.
On the second day of reaching Penang island. My family and me went to this hokkien food "cafeteria" for lunch. It is opened beside State Chinese Association which could be rented from, with no decorations. The cafeteria served hokkien local food like, fried oyster, fried glass noodles, and etc. The food is not bad, but for the price... I don noe... Haha, cause I'm not paying.
From what I see, there is only 2 cooks in a kitchen, 1 cashier (the owner) and several waitresses who manage the whole cafeteria. But during peak hours, the food preparation turns slow but anyone that is there for the food, it worths our patience.
The cafeteria might be simple but did not loose the sensible of it. Bon appeti!!
